How To "Sell" Your Writing Today
Copywriting is a fascinating profession. It's fun, and you can start your career today. Just start thinking in terms of sales.
Developing a copywriter's mindset is essential. Start watching how other people sell to you. Your kids sell (they're great at it), your partner sells, everyone sells -- even the people on the evening news.
When you realize that everyone sells, you'll stop thinking of copywriting as a bag of tricks. It's not. Copywriters who look for, and collect tricks, damage their native ability. They never realize that if they don't believe in a product they're selling, few others will.
Today, take a current project you're working on, and think about how you can sell it. Write a small advertisement for it. Then write a longer advertisement.
Please do this exercise. It's both simple, and powerful, because it forces you to be objective. You'll instantly see how you can improve any piece of writing, once you try to sell it.
You'll be well on the way to developing a copywriter's mindset, and this is the foundation of your copywriting career.
