Here are five steps for you to follow to make the transition to full-time writing.

Even if you're happy with your day job, it might be an idea to follow as many of these steps as possible. In today's economic climate the major benefit of being your own boss is that no one can fire you. :-) Freelancers thrived during the financial crisis, because hiring freelancers or contract workers on a "just in time" basis makes better sense for many companies than keeping on full-time employees.

1. Realize that there are literally endless opportunities for you today

Firstly, please realize that there are literally endless ways for you to make money writing today, and build your own career and business. All you need to do is pay attention to what's happening around you, and grab the opportunities you see.

The communications world is in the middle of a major transition, arguably the biggest shakeup in communications since the 15th century, when Johannes Gutenberg created the printing press.
