I know several writers who've taken to the Kindle platform like the proverbial ducks to water. One writer friend turns out a new Kindle ebook every month, like clockwork. The last time we spoke, she had 11 ebooks selling -- and her income is rising month by month.

Advertising Yourself As a Writer

Advertising can take many different forms.

For example, EL James, the author of the erotic blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey, originally wrote the book as fan fiction, on the site fanfiction.net. Fan fiction has a huge audience.

Would the book have been anywhere near as popular if so many people hadn’t learned of it so quickly? It’s unlikely. Once the book was selling, it got onto Amazon’s bestseller lists, and stayed there. The rights were purchased by a major publisher, and Universal Studios paid $5 million for the screen rights.
