You have less competition than you imagine
You may feel, as my students do, that there's lots of competition. If you hunt for writing jobs as other writers do, you're 100 per cent correct. There is lots of competition.
Writers bid themselves into oblivion on the outsourcing websites, in an undignified scramble to underbid others.
I tell my coaching students: if you want less competition, you do what every other business person does who wants business. You learn to pitch.
In a sense, I got lucky when I was a beginning writer. I fell into copywriting by accident, and copywriting is all about pitching – making offers. I wrote for clients, and learned to pitch.
Want to have zero competition?
If you want zero competition, you need to do what other writers don't do. You need to:
* Consider your abilities, and interests, and discover what's EASY for you to write;
* Target and research industries and specific companies;
* Make companies offers they can't refuse.
