Ten years of the writing blog which helps you to make money
In 2006, blogging was still an esoteric activity. Writing for the Web seemed, to many professional writers, slightly déclassé… Web writers were slumming it. “Real” writers wrote for mass market magazines, and traditional publishers.
And of course, when it came to writing fiction in 2006, that was a purely and simply waste of time if you wanted to make money from your words. Traditional publishers gave minuscule advances, and then expected their authors to put every cent of their advance, and more, into marketing their books.
Self-publishing was hard; too hard for most authors. Then of course, Amazon released the Kindle, and the world changed.
How times have changed in almost every sphere of writing. 🙂 Today, professional bloggers, Web writers, and fiction authors can make six-figure incomes. Some writers make six figures in a month.
