Just as businesses do, writers need to take stock twice a year.
Take stock of:
* your writing inventory. What did you produce this year? How much did you sell? What's still on the shelves? Can you re-sell old stock?
* your progress toward your writing goals.
* your health: physical, mental, and spiritual.
Take stock first, and you'll know what you should focus on in the first quarter of 2005.
We're edging into the craziest part of the year. If you're not a professional writer, you may decide that you're too busy to write. If your writing is your career, you'll have to keep up with deadlines, even as you juggle all the holiday season demands on your time.
The time to take stock is now. You'll be too busy in December. :-)
