(If you're a new reader of this blog, this post refers to NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month.)
Here we are at the mid-point of the month. I'm at just over 24K words, which means I'm around a thousand words behind schedule. I'll work on the novel again tonight however, so I should reach 25K today.
I'm not pushing myself too hard, because I'm still discovering the characters. I'm also doing research as well as writing. Unfortunately, research is seductive. I've been setting strict time limits, and setting research goals, so that I don't go overboard. The aim is to write a first draft, not research. :-)
God willing, I won't have any problems making it through this month, and completing the 50K. I'll continue working on this project through December. In January, I'll have a complete first draft, around 100K words. Then I'll work on a partial (three chapters and synopsis), so I can start the sales process.
What fun. :-) I'd forgotten how enjoyable it is to write fiction.
