Do you resist new ways to write? Or maybe you resist writing about what you don’t know – even though you're aware that you can research anything, and can interview a dozen people if you need to ? Are you a confirmed outliner or anti-outliner? What's YOUR negative bias?
The scientist W.I Beveridge said: "The human mind likes a new idea as little as the body likes a strange protein and resists it with a similar energy".
This means that when you come up with new creative ideas or techniques, you need to be aware that it's human nature to see the negative as looming large. Make it a point to list all the positives aspects and benefits of your idea, as many positives as you can find, and keep your focus on the positives. (Don’t worry that you'll forget about the negatives, they pop up automatically.)
