If wikis are new to you, here's a link help you to kick off your wiki adventures, the Getting Started FAQ at: http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiGettingStartedFaq
Wikipedia is the most famous wiki on the Web.
Wikis are not blogs. Blogs are chronological, with the latest blog item appearing at the top of the blog page. Wikis are collections of linked documents which can be edited in a Web browser -- think of a wiki as a super-easy way to create a Web site to which you and your collaborators can contribute using a Web browser.
A Web wiki grows as it goes, and it can be anything you want it to be.
Consider using a wiki:
* to share writing exercises within a writing group
* to collect reference notes
* as a scratch pad to collect writing ideas
* to collect publisher/ agent/ editor data
* to try out ideas
* to brainstorm
Wikis and privacy
If a Web wiki is private, no one else has access to it unless you share the password. However, if you're using a Web wiki like PBWiki be aware that your private PBwikis are NOT encrypted, and so are easily accessible. Don't use them to store confidential information.
