No time to work on your novel? A handheld device may be the answer. In "A Portable Office for the Professional Writer" Mel Odom describes his writing process:
Notes immediately became one of my favorite programs. Suddenly I was doing more creative work. Existing projects fell into line and I had more time for new projects. For a few weeks, I typed in my notes using the on-screen keyboard built into the Pocket PC-not the on-screen poke-with-a-stylus keyboard that came with the h5555 iPAQ. I discovered that I could enter handwritten notes, which I prefer for creative work because they seem less constrictive and less final. I also discovered the Recognize function in the Tools menu, which lets me automatically convert my handwritten notes to text.
