Whenever I’m bored with my current writing -- and that happens at least once a year -- I spend time generating material. I want to know what’s lurking in my head.
Here’s what’s on my generate-stuff plate today: create ten blurbs for fun novels I could write.
The operative word is “could”. I may never write any of them, in fact I probably won’t, but the act of generating the material will shake something loose.
Try it. Generate a couple of lists. Don’t TRY, just write. To make it easier, set yourself a time limit, say half an hour for five blurbs.
