Let's look at these concepts.
A "traditional writer" writes for print magazines, book publishing houses and probably writes copy for brochures, product marketing collateral and news releases for business.
An "online writer" writes for the online world.
A friend wrote to me: "I almost sent a query to a magazine last week. I last wrote for them two years ago. Then I decided that the idea had much more potential if I used it online, so I bought a domain name and I've just written four pages and created the basics of a Web site. I figure for the time it takes for me to get paid by a traditional publisher, I might as well see whether the idea has legs as an income stream for me. Know what? I'm excited about my Web site, and I haven't been as excited about writing for magazines in years."
She sounds like an online writer. Which are you?
