If you're a Gemini, you have more ideas than you know what to do with. For a Gemini WRITER, that leads to umpteen book and article enthusiasms that are fun while the enthusiasm lasts. When it fades, c'est la vie. You tend not to notice that you haven't opened Project Z in a while, you just forget it. It's a huge surprise months later when you're excavating folders on a hard drive: "Oh yes...I'll have to finish that one day." You never do, of course.
Enter, domain names.
Now, you no longer have enthusiasms. You have enthusiasms AND a DOMAIN NAME FOR EACH ONE. In addition to the domain name, you need hosting. Costly hosting, so you can feel REALLY guilty when you don't turn the enthusiasm into a 100-page Web site.
I know buying domain names is a severe addiction. Not to mention a character flaw. Muttering guiltily "I'm a Gemini, I can't help it," seems like a cop-out.
Well, the hosting problems are solved. My lovely new host DreamHost lets me host unlimited domains. And sub-domains. Seriously. At prices that are ... TERRIFIC, considering that I was paying three times that per year just to host ONE domain at ________. (I won't tell you where.) When I saw DreamHost's prices I couldn't believe how terrific they are. Why wasn't I told that I was paying too much?
OK, I know you're thinking cheap and nasty. Nope. Great -- beats my previous host, easily.
If you're a domain-name addict, DreamHost has wonderful "One Click Installs" that help you to install all kinds of goodies onto your site at a click: WordPress blogs, wiki, shopping carts... DreamHost is a paradise.
Whoopee. Now my domain-name addiction is no longer an addiction. I'm investing wisely in Internet real estate. ;-)
