This weekend, write an essay: "Personal Disaster Into Success - And What I Learned."
Everyone's life has personal disasters. At the time of a disaster, we're shocked and there's chaos.
However, with hindsight, many personal disasters - losing a job, the breakup of a marriage, going bankrupt - were the ashes in which we planted the seeds of our biggest success.
Write 400 words, or as many words as you like. Describe the disaster, and then describe what grew out of that disaster. You'll find this exercise builds your confidence.
If you want to sell your essay, many magazines and Web sites buy "personal experience" essays. The key to a sale is universal application - the takeaway. That's the "what I learned" part of your essay. If what you learned can help others, you'll sell the essay easily.
Have fun - and have a great weekend.:-)
