Writers love words. Words are our tools: they're also our treasure.
Do you get excited when you discover a new word? I do.
I write words which are new to me on my hand until I copy them into a notebook; this habit has earned me some puzzled looks over the years, but it ensures that I remember the word. :-)
A writer's primary pastime should be reading, and collecting word treasures.
I have several dictionaries in my library, but the dictionary I use most is WordBook. If you don't want to splash out for an electronic dictionary, the Mac's own dictionary is very useable.
On the PC, I've used WordWeb -- there's a free version.
My favorite new word is "sibylline"; it sounds wonderful, doesn't it? :-)
